Cynthia Castañon

Counsel

Cynthia Castañon, a proud Houston native, is a dedicated first-generation lawyer. She began her legal career as a paralegal at a busy litigation firm, where she discovered her passion for advocating for individuals navigating the legal system.

Before beginning her law career, Cynthia taught English in Japan at both elementary and high school levels, as well as to business professionals preparing for international travel. Immersed in Japanese culture, she also practiced the language with her students.

Returning to Houston, Cynthia pursued her law degree at Thurgood Marshall School of Law as a second-career student. She consistently earned a place on the Dean’s List, received a CALI Award in Commercial Paper, competed in trial advocacy competitions, and served on the Board of Advocates and Women of Law Society.

She also attended a law school study abroad program in Guanajuato, Mexico, combining her love for travel and languages. Fluent in Spanish and conversational in Japanese, Cynthia takes pride in her strong Mexican heritage.

Outside of work, she enjoys supporting diverse causes and spending time with her husband and their schnauzers.
